BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB PURPOSE: Web applications programmer/developer. You must have extensive knowledge of Object Oriented Programming concepts, C, PHP, HTML (without the help of an HTML WYSIWYG editor), JavaScript, CSS. The PHP developer will be responsible for either a complete application or some modules of location based service products. Development of feature rich Web Applications (not web sites) for locating and tracking people, vehicles, etc. To develop quality product code as part of a highly skilled team developing products for mobile network operators, as well as meeting deadlines within project plans to which the company has committed.
You will be expected to plan, research, develop logic, code, test and deploy several Web projects with minimal assistance. You should know how to build a PHP web application from the ground up, as well as modify and build on existing code. You should know PHP & MySQL like the back of your hand.
TYPE OF POSITION:


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:

• Degrees in Computer science, IT, software engineering, web development, programming or other subjects
• Certification in PHP web development, graphics and software programming (A bonus)
• More specific Diploma, degree or certificate in web development, multimedia design, web design and web content management.


Experience:

• 2+ years experience.

Knowledge:



Skills:
• Good understanding of object oriented programming and programming principles.
• Advanced understanding of the PHP programming language, HTML, Cascading Style Sheets, and JavaScript.
• Advanced knowledge of Web protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, sockets) and programming requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of UNIX operating system (primarily Linux) and Apache.
• Advanced understanding of MySQL database (developer fundamentals).
• Good understanding of web development IDEs and Database management tools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE:
Work (85%)
• Development & maintenance of Engineering Ideas's web applications
• Custom application, or new module, specifications
• Ensuring quality of work through development and implementation of QA procedures and standards
Administrative (10%)
• Accurately outlining work task breakdowns for programming side of new projects
• Accurately estimating time frames for work completion and hitting them
• Accurately and regularly completing time-sheets
• Working with team to educate project managers about programming solutions
Management (5%)
• Educating and at times, coordinating, contract developers

MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THIS ROLE:
building highly interactive, highly trafficked, database driven web applications.
