full time Java Developer

at Leading software solutions company in Cape Town

My client a leading software provider in their industry worldwide has vacancies available for Developers. Suitable candidates will program primarily in Java for both the Windows and AIX platforms and will be challenged to solve hard, real-world problems.

A number of positions are available. Depending on which team you join, you may have the opportunity to travel internationally and to work directly with clients.

My client is looking for dynamic, talented software engineers who are ready for a challenge where teamwork, technical ability and problem-solving skills are essential.

Suitable candidate will have:

• A B.Sc, B.Com or B.Bus.Sci degree majoring in Computer Science, or an Electrical Engineering degree with Computer Science at 3rd year level, or B.Tech degree with at least 2 years experience as full time developer in a professional development team.
• Excellent object-oriented analysis, design and development skills;
• Experience using an OO language such as Java or C++. Java expertise with J2SE experience is preferred;
• Sound understanding of relational databases and SQL, including experience with Microsoft SQL Server;
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
• A commitment to quality;
• The ability to work well in a team;
• The ability to communicate effectively - both verbal and written communication.
• SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS ONLY OR PERMANENT RESIDENCY A MUST!

The following would be advantageous:

• Honors degree in (or higher) in Computer Science;
• Experience using Python;
• DB2 LUW experience;
• AIX (ideally version 5) experience;
• EFT industry experience.
